A flat nasal bridge, or a saddle-shaped nasal collapse, is called saddle nose deformity, commonly known as collapsed nasal bridge. Saddle nose deformity is only detrimental to the appearance, but if there is severe septal curvature and thickening, or severe scar contracture of the inner wall, it can also hinder the smoothness of breathing through the nose and affect pronunciation. The treatment of saddle nose, which is known as rhinoplasty, is suitable for the rehabilitation of saddle nose deformity with intact nasal skin and nasal cavity lining. It can take the transplantation of tissues such as iliac bone, rib cartilage, dermis, or the implantation of tissue substitutes such as acrylate and silicone rubber blocks. At present, we can also choose to fill the nose with tumescent polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE), which has better tissue compatibility. So, is the higher the nose, the better? What are the commonly used materials for rhinoplasty? Westerners have high eyebrow arches, deep eye sockets and beautiful high nasal bridges, while Eastern peoples have low nasal bridges and a natural curvature at the root of the nose, which is the beauty of the Oriental nose. Rhinoplasty is too high and unnatural, so that people can see at a glance that it is a rhinoplasty, instead of making a faux pas. Regarding rhinoplasty materials, solid silicone, which is the commonly used rhinoplasty material, is still one of the preferred clinical rhinoplasty materials because of its good biocompatibility and low price, despite its complication rate of up to 5% to 20%. Its main disadvantage is that it cannot establish blood circulation with the body to form tissue connections, but only fibrous tissue encapsulation, so it can penetrate the skin at the tissue weakness, due to the contracture of the fibrous envelope, which can cause the body surface projection of silicone prosthesis, and affect the appearance effect. Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE): from the medical point of view, is currently the most ideal biological tissue substitute. Due to its good biocompatibility and unique microporous structure, non-toxic, non-cancerous, non-allergenic and other side effects, and human tissue cells and blood vessels can grow into its microporous, forming tissue connections, as autologous tissue. The effect of rhinoplasty is very satisfactory. However, its expensive price affects its universal application. Liquid silicone, Ingel Farrer, and Omnidine injections have been clinically observed to prove that they are easy to cause lasting erythema, swelling, skin necrosis and granuloma on the nose after surgery, and the liquid foreign body can spread around to infiltrate and permeate without clear boundaries, which is difficult to handle. The majority of domestic scholars advocate the prohibition of use or caution.
