Ovarian rupture is mostly caused by traumatic factors, such as heavy blows to the abdomen, sexual intercourse, abdominal puncture and ultrasound examination, etc. It may also be due to ovarian corpus luteum cysts, endometriosis, and tumours, which increase the pressure inside the ovarian capsule or tumours erode the capsule wall, leading to spontaneous ovarian rupture.
