The examination for costochondritis is as follows: 1. First, the patient should be asked if there is any relevant high-risk medical history. By high-risk history, we mean whether the patient has had any previous trauma, cold, or excessive activity here. If this is the case, it suggests a possible predisposing factor for costochondritis. 2. A thorough physical examination of the patient should be performed. For patients with pain in the thorax, the thorax needs to be fully exposed and then checked for obvious pressure points around the thorax. For costochondritis, the possible pressure points are located on the left and right sides of the sternum where the 3rd-5th ribs intersect, which is the preferred site for costochondritis. If there is significant pressure pain here, it suggests the possibility of costochondritis.3. Patients need to have relevant ancillary tests. If the doctor believes that the patient may have a disease such as costochondritis, he or she may need an MRI to clarify the presence or absence of the disease. The presence of costochondritis can be clarified after the above three steps.
