With the control of infectious diseases, malignant neoplasm has gradually risen to be the main disease threatening children’s lives, ranking second after accidental casualties in the order of children’s death, and the trend is increasing year by year at a rate of 5% every 5 years, and the number of new cases of childhood leukemia alone in China reaches more than 15,000 every year. In recent years, due to the continuous progress of medical technology, the prognosis of most pediatric tumors has improved significantly, and some of them can be cured, for example, the long-term disease-free survival rate of the standard-risk type of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia is now over 90%, and the efficacy of early nephroblastoma and hepatoblastoma is also over 90%. Retinoblastoma, which is highly malignant, can be cured in more than 95% of patients if diagnosed and treated early. These outcomes are based on early detection, correct staging and standardized treatment. A survey in 2007 showed that less than 10% of children with leukemia in China received standardized treatment, and less than 5% in rural areas, and a large number of children with leukemia died due to lack of timely and proper treatment. The reasons for this result are, on the one hand, related to the lack of understanding of new technologies and updated knowledge of primary doctors, especially those in rural areas, who are afraid of talking about cancer and cannot give timely diagnosis and treatment to patients; on the other hand, it is related to the serious lack of medical care and medicine in rural areas; in addition, it is also related to the limited financial ability of parents of affected children. Our department is a specialty in treating pediatric malignant tumors, and we often see some children with retinoblastoma in both eyes who are in advanced stages and have to have both eyes removed, which is a great malignant stimulus for the children, their parents and medical staff. Recently, I have often thought about how to establish an effective connection and communication between advanced medical technology and the majority of tumor patients. How many unnecessary deaths of tumor patients would be avoided and how many unfortunate families would be saved by allowing tumor patients to receive proper diagnosis and treatment at an early stage! In the process of my struggle, I was honored to be invited to join the medical volunteer association of China Rural Association, and participated in the health sending activity to the countryside in Laishui County as a volunteer. Through this activity, I deeply appreciate that this is a very good advanced medical experience and technology to the majority of rural grassroots medical institutions platform, large hospital experts can not only directly to the grassroots services for patients, and more importantly, through these activities, for the level of grassroots medical technology to transmit some of the latest medical technology, but also the grassroots medical units and large hospitals to form sister pairs To help, so as to truly serve the majority of rural patients, while effectively promoting the progress of medicine in China. I will do my best to carry out my work. Finally, I sincerely wish the work of the volunteer committee to be carried out smoothly with the support and guidance of the rural association.
