Can New Coronavirus be contracted through the eyes?

New coronavirus has the potential to cause infection through conjunctival transmission in the eyes. If droplets or body fluids from a person with novel coronavirus land on a table, chair, or some object surface just as others rub their eyes after touching these contaminated surfaces with their hands or if the droplets of the patient splash directly into the conjunctival sac of another person, there is a risk of conjunctivitis and subsequent systemic viral infection. Therefore, it is recommended to wash hands frequently, maintain hand hygiene, and not to rub eyes with hands. For health care workers need to wear good goggles, change gloves in a timely manner, keep hands clean, and not use contaminated gloves or bare hands to touch eyes and mouth and nose.
