How to distinguish between candida vaginitis and trichomoniasis

Candida vaginitis and trichomoniasis need to be distinguished from each other in three ways, namely symptoms, signs and examination. The main symptoms of trichomoniasis are itching of the vulva and vagina or increased leucorrhea with purulent, yellow-green, frothy discharge with a foul odor, and also an antsy sensation. The diagnosis can be confirmed by elevated vaginal pH as seen on leucorrhea examination and a large number of purulent cells and Trichomonas vaginalis in the vaginal secretions. The main symptoms of Candida vaginitis are itching and pain in the vulva, thick and itchy leucorrhea, and in severe cases, thick and sticky vaginal discharge in the form of bean curd or clotted leucorrhea. In severe cases, the itchiness may be unbearable. Based on the above signs, tests and symptoms, they can be differentiated.
