How old can you live with Rett syndrome?

Rett syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder, a rare disorder that occurs mainly in girls and is a progressive neurological disorder with sometimes mild and sometimes severe symptoms, often related to age. In addition to autistic manifestations, the typical features are hand wringing and washing-like movements, and somatic ataxia. Some patients with Rett syndrome have a normal life expectancy and most live into adulthood, but are unable to care for themselves.
