How much do you know about tumors?

Cancer as a chronic disease: Cancer, like other chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes), is only one problem in a healthy life; cancer is not a death sentence, and many cancer patients are successfully treated and still live a long time. Therefore, it is still important to live each day after having cancer and to be treated properly. How people feel about cancer: “At first, I just fainted.” That’s often how you feel when you know you’ve become a cancer patient. Cancer robs people of the feeling of control over their lives, and you feel like the future is uncertain and you don’t know how long you’ll live. Or you just depend on your doctor, and you don’t know if that doctor will make the right decision. But the more you learn about your acquired cancer and treatment options, the more you feel like you have control over it. If you know clear goals, the easier it will be for you to make decisions, engage in discussions about which treatment option is better for you, re-establish your image, and organize your future work and life. The formation of cancer: The human body is composed of countless cells, different cells have different functions, but all of them are controlled by a regular and regulated program of cell growth and death, which promotes the metabolism of body tissues. Once the process of cell growth and death goes wrong and uncontrolled, the growth will be out of order and tumor will be formed. Tumors are divided into benign tumors and malignant tumors: benign tumors do not spread and do not recur after complete removal. Malignant tumors grow while invading the surrounding tissues and organs or spreading/metastasizing to other parts of the body, and therefore are difficult to cure. Progress of cancer treatment: There are treatments for tumors such as surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, biological factor therapy and Chinese herbal medicine, etc. How to choose the treatment method? Firstly, we need to know what it is, and secondly, we can know how to increase it. We need to know the pathological type of tumor, the degree of differentiation, the depth of infiltration, whether the lymph nodes are metastatic, and whether other organs are metastatic, that is, we need to know the tumor stage, so that we can have the target and know what to do – choose the best current treatment plan. Successful cancer treatment lies not only in the primary cancer but also in the fact that the tumor may have spread to other parts of the body. Surgery or radiation therapy targets specific areas of the body, so it is often combined with systemic chemotherapy treatment. Even if a cure is not possible, symptoms can often be relieved with palliative care, improving quality of life and prolonging life. The advent of targeted therapies offers hope for long-term survival for some patients.
