How to treat ascending colon tumor

Ascending colon tumor usually refers to ascending colon cancer, and the treatment of ascending colon cancer is a comprehensive treatment mainly based on surgical resection. Early stage ascending colon cancer confined to mucosal layer can be resected by fiberoptic colonoscopy. Due to early stage and limited infiltration, postoperative radiotherapy and immunotherapy are generally unnecessary, and regular observation and follow-up are sufficient. Surgical treatment is the only effective way. The resected specimen will be sent to pathology for examination, and the decision of whether to carry out postoperative radiotherapy and immunotherapy will be made according to the depth of cancer invasion, the number of lymph node metastasis and the cutting edge after the pathology return. If the cancer foci of ascending colon are locally advanced, adhere to the surrounding tissues and organs, or the lymph nodes are obviously enlarged, preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy can be administered first to shrink the focal tumor and provide opportunities for subsequent surgical resection. Late stage ascending colon cancer usually has metastasis to liver, lung and other organs, and the effect of surgery is not good at this time, so adjuvant radiotherapy is usually administered to slow down the progress of disease and improve the quality of life. However, if obstruction, bleeding or perforation occurs in advanced colon cancer, emergency surgery is needed to relieve symptoms and save life. In conclusion, the treatment of ascending colon cancer is mainly based on surgery to remove cancer lesions, and then decide whether to carry out radiotherapy and immunotherapy according to specific conditions.
