Can alcohol kill the new coronavirus?

Alcohol at 75% can effectively inactivate novel coronaviruses, while ether, peracetic acid, and chlorinated disinfectants can effectively inactivate novel coronaviruses. In addition, novel coronaviruses are UV and heat sensitive, and high temperature disinfection and prolonged UV exposure can inactivate the virus. The novel coronavirus in this outbreak belongs to the beta genus of coronaviruses, which is generally susceptible to the population and spreads mainly by airborne droplets, but also by contact. Due to the short residence time of droplets in the air and the small movement distance, it is easy to cause proximity transmission, and the role of common disinfectants is limited, so even if the environment is disinfected, the necessary isolation measures should be taken.
