Double eyelid surgery to choose incision or buried line

The patient is often torn between the buried line or incision, so we will introduce the basic techniques of double eyelid and their advantages and disadvantages, so that you can choose the technique according to your own situation. Regardless of the various options and descriptions, there are three basic procedures: the complete incision method, the small incision method and the buried wire method. The advantage of the complete incision method is that it removes excess skin and fat, and the resulting double eyelids are firm and long-lasting, which is suitable for most patients, especially those with loose skin and fat bulges; the disadvantage is that the swelling is more obvious in the short term, the incision scars are more visible early on, and the recovery process is longer, which is unfavorable for people who need to return to normal in the short term due to work and other reasons. The advantage of the buried wire method is that it requires no incision, no stitch removal, little damage, quick recovery, and is suitable for people with good skin tightness and elasticity and no excess fat, but the disadvantage is that the heavy eyelids tend to fall off or become shallow and the results may not last. The advantages of the small incision method, also known as the three-point small incision double eyelid, are that only a few tiny incisions are needed, less surgical damage is done, and excess fat can be removed, but the disadvantages are that the sutures are less extensive than in the full incision method, the heavy lids are not firm enough, the curvature is not smooth enough, and the excess skin cannot be removed. Patients who do not want to tolerate the longer recovery time of the full incision method and do not want to take the risk that the results of the buried wire method will not last can choose to have the small incision method.
