1. Heavy eyelids are commonly known as “double eyelids”, and from an aesthetic point of view, the shape of the upper eyelid with heavy lids makes the eyes more bright, flexible, handsome, charming, and richer in emotional expression and bright eye exposure. Single eyelids often give the impression of being monotonous, bloated and lacking in vitality, so in order to change this lack, surgical methods of forming heavy eyelids were born. The methods commonly used today are broadly divided into two categories: surgical incision and ligature. Ligature blepharoplasty involves using sutures to sew the skin to the lid by various methods. This method does not cause significant post-operative swelling and leaves no scarring. This is often referred to as “non-surgical” or “one-stitch” blepharoplasty. This method has limited indications and is only suitable for young people with thin eyelids and little fat in the eyelids and orbital diaphragm. The eyelids that are formed disappear quickly. 2. The incision method is the commonly applied method. It involves cutting the upper lid skin so that the blepharoplasty is anatomically similar to the natural blepharoplasty. This method is suitable for any recipient. The blepharoplasty does not disappear. A small amount of skin and a portion of orbital fat can also be removed in older patients with loose wrinkled skin or bulging orbital diaphragm fat to reduce the symptoms of laxity and bloating of the upper lid. 3. Although blepharoplasty adds a lot of charm, some people such as those with saddle nose (low flat nose) and inner canthus should have a comprehensive correction to achieve the desired effect. Some people, such as those with very narrow eye fissures, excessively prominent eyeballs, and a narrow distance between the upper edge of the eyelid and the eyebrow, should not undergo this surgery. In addition, congenital amblyopia, acute and chronic eye inflammation are not suitable for surgery, and surgery is strictly prohibited for people with blood clotting disorders and scarring. 4. If you require blepharoplasty, the following preparations are necessary. (1) Be aware that the choice between single and double eyelids is a matter of personal aesthetics. Only if you are willing and have adequate psychological preparation and determination before surgery can you maintain a stable state of mind afterwards. Otherwise, it may bring you unnecessary troubles. (2) Be aware that the effect of surgery has a certain relationship with the original foundation of appearance. Most of the patients only have their eyes improved, but the whole appearance of the person may not be greatly improved. (3) Communication with the surgeon is very necessary. Tell your doctor what you really think and ask him or her for the necessary information about the surgery so that you can have a good idea. (4) Clean your face well the day before the surgery and do not use cosmetics. Avoid menstrual period. If you are taking medication, you should explain to the doctor. After the surgery, you should follow the doctor’s instructions and avoid eye strain.
