Why is the swelling of double eyelid surgery so slow?

It is the dream of every woman to have a pair of charming double eyelids, but for single eyelid MMs, after a small double eyelid surgery, want to recover as soon as possible beautiful, especially we do not know better, even after just completing the surgery want to have a pair of “electric eyes” immediately. However, the actual situation is that weeks or even a couple of months after the surgery are not recovered, why is the double eyelid recovery so slow? Double eyelid surgery (medically known as blepharoplasty) is a common outpatient cosmetic surgery procedure, and regardless of the method used, the surgical protocol is very mature. In general, the fastest recovery time is for the single-incision method, which is usually a little swollen on the second day after surgery, and the swelling will be completely gone in 3 to 5 days. 2 to 3 small incisions are slightly longer, and the recovery time is usually back to normal and natural in about 2 weeks. But the full incision method of double eyelid recovery is longer, generally 3 months or even up to half a year. Why is the double eyelid recovery so slow? This is mainly related to the anatomical structure of the eyelid and the surgical incision. When the surgical incision cuts off part of the reflux veins and lymphatic vessels, it cannot replace the reflux to the bottom, but still has to reflux to the top, so before the reflux is completely rebuilt, the reflux is slow and the swelling is slow to subside. Especially in the early stage (5~7 days) after the larger edema subsides, the micro swelling subsides slowly, which is mainly related to the slower reconstruction of lymphatic reflux. In addition, 1~2 months after the surgery, the scar of the wound has a slight growth and contraction, which also affects the speed of reflux and the swelling. Therefore, after double eyelid surgery, swelling is a natural reaction, and it takes time to reduce swelling, so you can’t rush it. However, more massage and hot compresses after surgery can promote the swelling to subside and can achieve auxiliary effects.
