Recurrence may occur after removal of a smooth muscle tumour of the uterus. If the tumour is very small, it may go undetected at the time of surgery and in turn may be left behind and recur as a result of incomplete removal. Therefore, patients with uterine smooth muscle tumours should be clearly evaluated before surgery to choose the procedure and need to be reviewed regularly as prescribed by the doctor.
