Precautions after percutaneous nephrolithotomy for lithotripsy

After percutaneous nephrolithotomy, a double J tube (DJ tube) is usually left in place during the procedure and needs to be removed under the cystoscope one month after the procedure! (If forgotten, the consequences are serious). Be sure to check with your treating physician to determine if a double J tube will be placed intraoperatively and when it will be removed. Drink more water, more than 3000ml per day. Prohibit heavy physical labor for half a month and pay attention to rest. Prevent secondary bleeding. During the period of double J tube, take oral sodium potassium hydrogen citrate granules (Youlait) to prevent the formation of stones in the double J tube. Review the urological ultrasound in about six months and pay attention to any recurrence of stones. Patient-specific precautions need to be discussed with the treating physician.
