Flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc.
Radiotherapy can cause many adverse effects and can lead to radiation pneumonitis and long-term respiratory impairment secondary to interstitial lung fibrosis. It has been shown that the component of flaxseed called “lignans” can protect during radiotherapy for lung cancer, possibly by reducing bronchoalveolar lavage fluid protein levels and decreasing levels of inflammatory cytokines and cytokines such as transforming growth factor. This effect may be achieved by reducing the level of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid proteins and decreasing the level of inflammatory cytokines and cellular chemokines such as transforming growth factor to reduce the adverse effects of radiotherapy. In addition, flaxseed has the effect of relieving constipation, while patients with combined constipation can eat more appropriately, but patients with diarrhea should be temporarily avoided. In addition to flaxseed, pumpkin seeds and beans are also rich in lignans, and more of these foods can be eaten during radiation therapy.
