Slow talk on herbal medicine for advanced malignant tumors

(1) Effective criteria for herbal medicine treatment of malignant tumors (1) Symptoms relief or disappearance: such as pain, numbness, cough, choking, bleeding, chest and abdominal fluid, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in swallowing, difficulty in defecation, mass compression, local swelling, discharge of necrotic tissue, etc. are reduced, stopped or disappeared; (2) Signs relief or disappearance: such as softened mass, lighter swelling, reduced amount of fluid, softer and smaller lymph nodes, etc. (3) Adjuvant examination: the size of the mass becomes smaller or disappears, the effusion decreases, and the related antigenic indexes drop or return to normal; (4) Quality of life improves: sleep improves, diet, living and bowel movements can take care of themselves, and general physical labor or recreational activities can be performed. (2) Suitable targets for herbal medicine treatment of malignant tumors (1) First patients: Patients with advanced stage (stage III or IV), extensive tumor metastasis (cross-organ metastasis, distant lymph node metastasis, bone marrow metastasis), extremely weak, and the three conventional treatment methods of western medicine are unable to carry out treatment; (2) Recurrent patients: Patients who are unable to carry out surgery because the primary site has been operated or multiple lesions, or because the site is special (such as close to large blood vessels) or many lesions. (2) Patients with relapse: they cannot be treated with chemotherapy because the primary site has been operated or multiple lesions cannot be operated, because the site is special (such as near large blood vessels) or there are many lesions, and because the tumor cells are resistant or the body is weak and the white blood cells are reduced, the body cannot bear chemotherapy; (3) Judgment of efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine in treating malignant tumors (1) The efficacy is usually divided into recent efficacy and long-term efficacy. (2) By “recent efficacy”, we mean that within 3-7 days after drug administration, the patient’s main symptoms are relieved, the quality of life is improved, and the desire for survival is enhanced. For example, patients’ persistent chest and ascites or local swelling are reduced or even eliminated; persistent cough and hemoptysis are relieved; persistent pain is relieved (without painkillers); tumor compression symptoms are relieved (referring to improvement of difficulty in feeding the esophagus, obstruction of tracheal ventilation, ureteral urinary obstruction and rectal defecation); symptoms of profuse sweating are controlled; abdominal distension is significantly relieved; diet and bowel movement are nearly normal; patients’ mental and physical strength is increased and they can participate in the activities of the patients. The patient has increased mental and physical strength and can participate in general recreational activities. The main auxiliary examination indexes have more than mild changes. (3) The so-called “long-term efficacy” refers to the continuation of the above efficacy for 1 to 2 years or even longer after treatment, with the mass reduced by more than half and the patient being able to engage in certain physical work. The main auxiliary examination indexes have moderate or above changes. It must be understood that the above two curative effects were obtained in the case of advanced malignant tumors faced with the traditional therapy of western medicine which was simply abandoned, and the effect obtained by using pure Chinese medicine treatment is very meaningful from this perspective. (4) Most of the patients showed good recent efficacy after medication, only a small number of patients (about 20%) did not have obvious effect, analyzing the reasons: ① the normal taking of medication was affected by various reasons (esophageal blockage, serious anorexia, severe conscious regurgitation, ideological aversion to Chinese medicine, etc.); ② the normal taking of medication, but the tumor cells did not “react” to it; 4. “(1) The tumor cells are highly malignant and have drug resistance; (2) Patients do not follow medical advice and do not adhere to the medication (lack of perseverance to take medication for a long time) (2) Patients do not follow medical prescriptions and do not adhere to medication (lack of perseverance to take medication for a long time, paralysis after improvement, boredom of family members in long-term care, thinking of giving up in the late stage, unwillingness to continue treatment due to financial difficulties); (3) Indiscriminate use of other drugs that should not be used or drugs or health care products without direct anti-cancer effect, which affects treatment; (4) Physical factors or factors of disease itself. (1) Less toxic side effects, almost no bone marrow suppression, heart, liver, kidney, gastrointestinal tract damage; (2) Real therapeutic effect, and most of them are advanced patients who cannot be treated by western medicine; (3) Convenient treatment, mainly oral medicine, most of them do not need hospitalization, but can be treated in outpatient clinic; (4) Low treatment cost, when the same therapeutic effect is achieved, the treatment cost is only one fifth to tenth of chemotherapy and surgery. (4) The cost of treatment is low, only one fifth to tenth of chemotherapy and surgery for the same efficacy. It can reduce the economic pressure of the society and tumor patients, so it can be called a good choice for the common people with “low cost and good quality”. (5) Improve the quality of life and self-care ability of patients, and greatly reduce the pressure of social care.
