Symptoms of Ear Inflammation

Ear inflammation can cause pain in the ear area. Symptoms of ear inflammation may be caused by acute inflammation of the external ear canal or middle ear, both of which tend to cause more intense ear pain. Swelling and narrowing of the ear canal may occur, and even further boils in the external ear canal, or infected cysts, which can cause hearing loss in the ear, ear congestion, a feeling of ear blockage, and even tinnitus. Middle ear infections may also cause similar symptoms, and some patients may further develop a secondary perforation of the eardrum, causing pus to flow from the ear canal. When ear inflammation occurs, further detailed examination is needed to determine the cause of the condition and to take aggressive anti-inflammatory and anti-infective treatment measures.
