Why Doctors Don’t Recommend Veneers

Veneers are generally available in both resin and porcelain. Since some patients’ dental conditions are not suitable for veneers, the doctor may recommend other forms of orthodontic treatment or beautification. Patients with uneven teeth, misalignment towards the lips or tongue, abnormal teeth bite, teeth spacing more than 2 mm, severely chipped teeth, as well as those who are used to breathing through the mouth and grinding their teeth at night are not recommended to have dental veneers. On the one hand, it affects the aesthetics and makes the operation more difficult, on the other hand, it may affect the adhesion of the veneer and cause the veneer to fall off in a short time, etc. After completing the dental veneers, it may cause adverse reactions such as tooth sensitivity, soreness, inflammation of gum tissue, infection, etc., and may cause loss when chewing hard food. Long-term consumption of dark-colored beverages such as coffee, cola, and strong tea may also cause pigmentation. In addition, dental veneers are more expensive and therefore not practical. The main function of dental veneers is to repair discolored or defective teeth and achieve whitening effect. If veneers are not available, you can try cold light whitening and scaling to whiten your teeth, while those with obvious tooth damage and tooth malformation can be corrected and repaired under the guidance of a doctor to achieve the purpose of beautifying your teeth. Patients are advised to reduce the intake of dark-colored drinks or foods, ensure at least 3 minutes of brushing in the morning and before going to bed, fully clean the teeth and food residues in the gaps between teeth to reduce bacterial breeding causing tooth discoloration, caries and other damages, and actively treat the dental problems that have appeared under the guidance of doctors.
