A patient’s arm is not straight after a fracture because the patient needs local immobilization in the early stages of the fracture. In the later stage of the fracture, due to the prolonged immobilization, the muscles, joint capsule and ligaments of the joint become adherent, which causes the patient to have difficulty in extending the arm. Passive and active functional exercises of the joint should be performed under the guidance of a rehabilitation physician, along with local heat treatment. For example, Chinese herbal fumigation, or topical ointment that activates blood circulation and relieves pain, as well as acupuncture, moxibustion, and small acupuncture can be used to relieve local adhesions of muscles and ligaments. It can also accelerate blood circulation and improve microcirculation, which can relieve the phenomenon of the arm not being able to stretch straight.
