Hypertension is the first enemy of health and the first killer of human beings. 1992 WHO pointed out that cardiovascular diseases kill 12 million people every year, accounting for 1/4 of the total deaths of the world’s population and ranking first in various causes of death. Hypertension, if left untreated and allowed to develop naturally, will significantly accelerate the process of atherosclerosis, with stroke and acute myocardial infarction occurring on average 13.9 years after the disease. If left untreated, the average natural course of the disease is 19 years, shortening life expectancy by an average of 20 years compared to those with normal blood pressure.
