Cervical erosion: a manifestation of chronic cervicitis that looks like erosion but is not a true epithelial ulcer, but an alternative to columnar epithelium, a name that has been abandoned and is now called “cervical erosion-like changes”. Most women of childbearing age may have “cervical erosion” and only some have symptoms. If cervical erosion is accompanied by acute cervicitis, there are usually symptoms such as purulent leucorrhea, bleeding during intercourse or bleeding between periods, which require examination of the pathogen and application of antibiotics. If cervical erosion has no obvious symptoms and cervical cancer screening result is normal, it can be left untreated, as “erosion” is not equal to cancer and will not lead to cancer directly. The mild to moderate severity of cervical erosion is determined according to the area of erosion, which has nothing to do with the degree of lesion or the possibility of cancer. 4. If cervical erosion is found, cervical cancer screening should be done in time, including three main tests: high-risk HPV virus screening, cervical fluid-based cytology and colposcopy, and if there is any problem with one of them, the diagnosis can be further confirmed by cervical biopsy. 5. Persistent infection of high-risk HPV virus is the only important cause of cervical cancer, and early detection and timely treatment can effectively prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer. 6. The effect of cervical erosion medication is not obvious and can only relieve the symptoms. Physical therapy is needed to completely restore the smoothness of the cervix, which may have some effect on pregnancy and childbirth, so it is recommended to choose after childbirth. We hope that patients can face cervical erosion correctly and not to talk about “erosion”, it is not necessary to completely cure all the erosion found, the most important thing is whether the cervical cancer screening results are normal or not, what really causes cervical cancer is the persistent infection of high-risk HPV virus. The real cause of cervical cancer is the persistent infection of HPV virus. Only through correct understanding can we face and treat the disease correctly.
