Pediatricians should not take montelukast for more than a few days

  Montelukast dosing cycle is related to the treatment of disease, for asthma, the effect of short-term use is not obvious, need to take about 2-3 months, or even long-term use, for the treatment of allergies, the drug can be stopped with 3-5 days.  Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor blocker, which is not a hormone, has a certain effect on inflammation, allergic reactions and asthma, and does not require gradual reduction and discontinuation. The drug itself is effective for asthma, especially for aspirin-sensitive asthma, and can reduce the number of attacks and symptoms, and reduce the dependence on hormones. Asthma patients can apply this drug for prevention, as well as long-term treatment; in the case of allergic rhinitis, the drug can be used for symptomatic treatment, if the condition improves significantly, the drug can be stopped after 3-5 days, and for those with severe symptoms, the drug can be taken for about 2 weeks.  In addition, patients should drink more water after medication to promote drug absorption and metabolism. Parents should closely observe changes in their children’s condition, stop medication if necessary, go directly to the hospital for further examination to avoid delays, and exercise more in life to improve resistance.
