Stress urinary incontinence is mostly present when there is leakage of urine when coughing or sneezing. Commonly seen in female female patients, when pelvic floor organ prolapse occurs, the urethra or bladder can move downward. This is when the closing pressure of the urethra decreases and involuntary urine leakage occurs when the abdominal pressure rises suddenly, such as running and jumping, coughing, sneezing, talking loudly or laughing. It is recommended to go to the hospital for examination to understand the degree of pelvic organ prolapse and choose medication or surgery according to the results of the examination. In the case of men, it may be coughing, sneezing, and leakage after prostate surgery, which can also be seen in chronic urinary retention. A large amount of urine is stored in the bladder, when the bladder pressure is high. When sneezing or coughing, the bladder pressure continues to rise above the urethral closure pressure and leakage also occurs. It is mostly seen in older men with prostatic hyperplasia and requires ultrasound examination of the prostate and residual urine to further confirm the diagnosis.
