How long does it take for lobar pneumonia to heal?

The time to healing of lobar pneumonia is related to the patient’s age, the presence of complications, and the severity of symptoms. The problem should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis, and no generalizations should be made. Lobar pneumonia is caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae infection, and the typical symptoms are high fever, coughing and chest pain. For those who are young, in good health, without complications and with mild symptoms, they can be cured in about 7-10 days if treated promptly. In contrast, the recovery period is relatively longer for older people who are weaker and have complications, usually about 10-14 days to heal. In severe cases, large cavities may appear in the lungs and the healing time can be about 3 months. Patients with lobar pneumonia are advised to abstain from oily, spicy and hot foods, and to choose light, easily digestible and nutritious foods, which, together with active cooperation with the doctor, can be cured soon.
