Warning: Obesity is not a fault but a disease!

Obesity is an ancient topic, as early as more than 2300 years ago, Hippocrates, who is respected as the “father of medicine” in the West, believed that “obesity is not only a disease in itself, but also a harbinger of other diseases”, and once said that ” Sudden death is often more common in fat people than in thin people”. Fat is not a fault, it is a disease! In 1997, the World Health Organization clearly declared obesity as a disease and defined it as a chronic disease in which the body stores too much energy in the form of fat. It is believed that “obesity will become the primary global health problem”. Simple obesity is defined as “a chronic disease characterized by systemic hypertrophy of fat in the form of excessive nutrition, physical inactivity and behavioral deviations, closely related to lifestyle”. According to WHO recommendations, individuals can prevent and control obesity by: ① limiting energy intake exclusively from fats and sugars; ② increasing the consumption of fruits, vegetables and legumes, whole grains and nuts; ③ regular physical exercise (60min per day for children and 150min per week for adults). Calculate your BMI The most commonly used indicator for obesity measurement is the body mass index (BMI), which is calculated as follows: BMI = weight/height2 (kg/m2). The purpose of using this index in determining the degree of obesity is to eliminate the influence of different heights on BMI, so as to facilitate comparison between populations or individuals.WHO defines adults with BMI between 25kg/m2 and 29.9kg/m2 as overweight, and ≥30kg/m2 as obese. Also WHO defines waist circumference >94cm for men and >80cm for women as abdominal obesity. The Chinese guidelines for the prevention and control of overweight and obesity in adults determine that the BMI of adults in China is 24.0kg/m2~27.9kg/m2 for overweight ≥28kg/m2 for obesity, waist circumference ≥85cm for men and ≥80cm for women for abdominal obesity. The more obese, the more diseases! China’s population nutrition and chronic disease status report (2015) shows that the overweight rate of adults aged 18 and above is 30.1% and the obesity rate is 11.9%. Research shows that the risk of hypertension for those with BMI ≥ 24kg/m2 is 3 to 4 times higher than for those with normal weight, and the risk of diabetes is 2 to 3 times higher than for those with normal weight. Men with a waist circumference of 85 cm or more and women with a waist circumference of 80 cm or more have about 3.5 times the risk of hypertension and 2.5 times the risk of diabetes than those with a waist circumference below this limit. A prospective study of 10 populations in China showed that increased body mass index was an independent risk factor for the development of coronary heart disease, and the incidence of coronary events increased with increasing body mass index. Therefore, compared with Europeans and Americans, obesity in the Chinese population will be accompanied by more metabolic abnormalities, and the risk of hypertension, diabetes and other chronic diseases will be higher. The ancients said “obesity” The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine Chinese medicine had a preliminary understanding of obesity as early as the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, which identified three basic types of obesity, namely, anointed man, fat man and meat man. Wei Qi is out of order”. The yellow emperor said: how to degree to know its fat and thin? Berko said: people have fat, cream, meat. The yellow emperor said: what is the difference between this? high said: popliteal flesh firm, skin full of people, fat. Popliteal flesh is not firm, the skin is slow, paste. Skin and flesh are not separated from each other, meat. ”Shuowen Jiezi” “Shuowen Jiezi” has the word fat, half body meat. A said wide meat. From half, from the meat. Half also sound. Half, divided cattle. The original meaning of ancient rituals used in the half of the animal meat. Fat, fat also. Fat, from meat, originally meaning fatty. Fat, more meat also. In ancient times, there is basically no strict distinction and definition of fat and fat, fat and fat is considered only the degree of heavy and light. Fat, shaped like a full moon also, fat, shaped like a half-moon also. The Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, the Preparedness and Urgency of the Thousand Gold Essential Formula, has recorded a large number of “light body” products, such as Chinese wolfberry, ginseng, poria, dulcimer, cuscuta, dioscorea, yam, jujube, etc. The Tang dynasty doctor Sun Si invites in the “preparation of urgent thousand gold essential formula” recorded “three peach blossoms, Yin dry end of the, …… can thin waist body, people face white Yue Ze ……” because is the peach blossom is with weight loss The actual “peach blossoms” have a weight loss effect and can be taken often to make the waist and abdomen slim. The “Medical Department Quan Lu” “Dan Xi Xin Fa” The “Medical Department Quan Lu” has recorded winter melon for can treat obesity: “people too fat want to get thin light health, available winter melon for long-term consumption of soup, want to increase fat then do not eat this thing.” Yuan? Zhu Zhenheng “Danxi Xinfa” “fat people more deficiency, fat people more damp more phlegm” theory, the treatment advocates “it is appropriate to dry damp to remove phlegm, move the qi, two Chen Tang plus Mu Xiang, two atractylodes, fragrant herb, rhizome, return, or guide phlegm soup.” Defeat obesity, starting from me Obesity is the main risk factor for the occurrence of hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, stroke, breast cancer and many other cancers, and is recognized by the World Health Organization as the fifth most important risk factor affecting health. Therefore, we must overcome obesity.
