Is shoulder pain gout?

Shoulder pain is usually not a manifestation of gout, but may be caused by other reasons, which need to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. Gout is a crystalline arthritic manifestation caused by hyperuricemia. It usually starts acutely and patients show sudden joint pain, the first attack mostly invades a single joint, such as the first metatarsophalangeal joint, which shows local redness, swelling, heat and pain, and the symptoms can progressively worsen and reach a peak within 24 hours, mostly relieving themselves within days or weeks, but shoulder pain usually rarely occurs. As for shoulder pain, it is commonly seen clinically as a shoulder joint contusion, caused by external forces that cause damage to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and other structures around the shoulder joint. In addition, it may also be pain caused by frozen shoulder. Most patients will have limited shoulder joint movement, and middle-aged and elderly people are prone to it. If the shoulder pain is not relieved for a long time, or if there is a progressive aggravation, it is recommended to go to the orthopedic department of the hospital in time for examination and to take appropriate treatment after clarifying the cause.
