Emphysema caused by lung tumor should quit smoking and be treated with medication, oxygen therapy and surgery under professional doctor’s guidance.
Smoking is a common pathogenic factor that triggers lung tumor and emphysema, therefore, smokers may suffer from both lung tumor and emphysema at the same time, so they should quit smoking firstly, and at the same time carry out the following treatments:
1. Medication: use bronchodilator drugs such as salbutamol and terbutaline as prescribed by doctors to relieve cough, wheezing and shortness of breath; apply expectorant drugs such as aminoglutethimide hydrochloride and bromhexine; and apply penicillin, ceftazidime, levofloxacin and other anti-infective treatments for those who are infected with lung tumors.
2. Oxygen therapy: emphysema combined with lung tumor often leads to the decline of respiratory function of the patients, and should be actively assisted by oxygen therapy.
3. Surgery: If there is a chance of surgery for lung tumor, surgery should be performed as early as possible, and serious emphysema, such as pulmonary hernias, can be handled at the same time as the surgery for the tumor.
Whether it is lung tumor or emphysema, it should be actively treated under the guidance of professional doctors to prolong the survival time.
