There are certain differences between benign and malignant pituitary tumors: first, benign ones are relatively regular in shape, mainly round or oval, but malignant pituitary tumors are irregular in shape, some grow along the bony seams or even erode the bone, or they may grow to the outside of the pituitary gland and erode a wider area. Secondly, there is the related functional abnormality. Although benign pituitary tumors have certain functional abnormalities, they are not particularly obvious and many of them can be regulated by means of medication, but malignant ones tend to have a great impact on endocrine secretion and the abnormal values of hormonal disorders are very many, and sometimes even medication cannot cure them. Lastly, benign pituitary tumors are basically not recurring or rarely recur after excision, while malignant ones still recur after excision, even after radiation.
