The recovery time for thyroid surgery is related to the choice of surgical procedure and the patient’s own ability to repair the damage, and generally takes 5-7 days to recover. Thyroid lesions that require surgical removal include benign and malignant thyroid nodules and some hyperthyroid patients. Minimally invasive surgery and open surgery can be chosen depending on the nature, extent and location of the lesion. In case of benign lesions or malignant nodules with limited lesions, minimally invasive surgery is often chosen, with smaller incisions and faster postoperative recovery. Patients with extensive lesions or even the need for lymph node dissection may choose open surgery, which has a larger incision and a relatively longer recovery period for patients. In addition, if the patient has a chronic disease such as diabetes, the poor ability to repair the damage may also prolong the recovery time. Patients need to be closely monitored after thyroid surgery and the possibility of postoperative complications, such as bleeding, hematoma compressing the trachea, and damage to nerves, needs to be noted.
