Can a cough cause a fever?

A simple cough does not cause a fever. Fever is usually the result of influenza, the common cold, or diseases such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia, or tuberculosis. Cough and fever are a stressful, defensive response of the body to an abnormal environment. If the cough is caused by inflammation such as upper respiratory tract infection or lung infection, it can cause edema and rupture of small blood vessels in the patient’s respiratory tract mucosa, and the body’s resistance will be reduced, and germs will most likely infect the broken mucosa, leading to fluctuations in body temperature and a tendency for a gradual rise in body temperature, resulting in fever. Patients should promptly check the cause of coughing and fever and carry out symptomatic treatment after diagnosis, such as using Chinese medicines like Shuanghuanglian oral solution, Chaihu antipyretic oral solution, etc. If necessary, nebulizing liquid nebulizing inhalation treatment can be used, along with anti-pathogen treatment.
