Is hypertension reversible?

According to current diagnostic criteria, hypertension is divided into primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension is the most common, and this type of hypertension is a chronic disease that is associated with genetics, physical factors or a poor lifestyle in general. For primary hypertension, most people can reverse it after controlling their poor lifestyle. However, if patients do not actively control their blood pressure and gradually develop complications of hypertension, this condition is irreversible. Secondary hypertension accounts for about 5% of the cases, mainly due to renal insufficiency, renal artery stenosis, and abnormal hormone secretion, and most of them will gradually improve after the etiology is corrected and are reversible in the early stage. However, if the end-stage increase in blood pressure leads to organ damage, it is also irreversible. The main treatment for people with hypertension is to control the blood pressure.
