If your child has a cough, Western medicine generally says that you can eat anything, fish, shrimp, fruits and vegetables, and there is nothing you can’t eat. In Chinese medicine, fish, shrimp, beef and mutton are fatty, sweet and greasy foods that children should not eat if they have a cough. So try to give your child less fish, more vegetables, and light, hot, digestible food to help the cough go away. Your child’s cough should be a respiratory tract infection caused by cold, which can be treated with oral pediatric cold medicine, as well as with Chinese medicine to calm the cough. If your child has a cough, don’t take your child out in the near future to avoid getting windy again and aggravating the symptoms. Give your child water in moderation to keep the body hydrated and promote urination.
