What does antigen negative mean?

Antigen negativity suggests that the organism may not be currently infected with the virus (or other pathogens) or that the viral load is too low to be detected. In the case of the new coronavirus antigen test, for example, the antigen test has a certain sensitivity, i.e. there is a minimum limit of detection. Antigen negativity usually means that the virus has not been picked up in the organism, then the antibodies in the antigen test card will not bind to the sample and show a negative antigen test response. In some special cases, due to a low viral load in the organism or an error in the sampling method, the lower limit of detection cannot be reached, resulting in a negative antigen test result. A negative New Crown antigen test can only be used as a primary screening result, and even though the probability of error is not high, it should still be analyzed in conjunction with the nucleic acid test result. Antigen testing can be used as a complement to nucleic acid testing.
