What to look for during chemotherapy

During chemotherapy, because of the low immune function, it is easy to get infected, so pay attention to the following issues: Prevention of oral infection: pay attention to the cleaning of teeth and oral mucosa. Brush your teeth scientifically, keep them clean, and use dental floss and toothpicks to clean the gaps between your teeth, or you can buy a flosser to rinse them to prevent gum infections. It is important to rinse your mouth after meals and before going to bed, and do not have residual food in your mouth. Prevention of respiratory tract infection: pay attention to keeping warm, never get cold, especially in winter, when bathing, and use air conditioning scientifically in summer; try to wear a mask when going out; go to less crowded places, such as supermarkets, airports, stations, etc.; relatives with known colds should not come to visit or live together as much as possible, and both sides should wear masks as a last resort, and the room should be properly ventilated. Prevention of digestive tract infection (diarrhea): eat cooked food and less cold food; drink warm water; eat fresh food as much as possible; pay attention to the freshness of food storage. Prevent urinary tract and perianal infections: wash with local water or safe cleaning solution at least once a day, and if there is diarrhea, the frequency should be increased appropriately. Prevent skin infections: Keeping the skin clean and bathing is the best prevention method, especially in summer, when sweating is high; if the condition is severe, or if the patient is elderly or has mobility problems, he or she should ask someone to help scrub the skin all over the body. Change underwear daily in summer. Cut overly long nails regularly to prevent skin scratches or nail fungus. Adequate nutritional balance: daily food intake should be sufficient and varied, with staple foods, meat, eggs, milk and vegetables all available and tasty. If you lose appetite due to chemotherapy reaction, you can eat less and more meals to make up for the deficiency. Adequate food provides enough energy to keep the organism functioning, and so does the immune function.
