The rubber band hung in perianal abscess surgery usually falls off at about 10 days. The use of rubber bands in perianal abscess surgery is applied in one-time radical surgery for high-grade perianal abscesses. Because of the high location of the internal opening, a high perianal abscess may lead to anal incontinence if the internal opening is cut directly, which will damage many sphincters. Therefore, it is a safer practice to hang a rubber band between the internal opening and the external incision to slowly cut through the anal sphincter tissue, which will not cause the sphincter to rupture suddenly and produce anal incontinence, and to use the elasticity of the rubber band to slowly cut open the tissue and give time for the back wound to grow while cutting on one side.
