In my long-term clinical work, I often encounter patients who ask doctors to diagnose and treat diseases based on their “experience” or “referrals”. In fact, the patient’s “experience” and other people’s “introduction” are very important in the patient’s opinion, but if you blindly ask the doctor to use them as the basis for disease diagnosis and treatment, sometimes it can also be a mistake. The patient how to cooperate with the doctor during the consultation to clarify the problem, need to pay attention to several aspects of the problem: 1) do not see the doctor to make a diagnosis for their own disease. The first thing many patients say to their doctor during a visit is: Doctor, I have XX disease, you help me prescribe some medicine. In fact, if this is the case, you do not have to come to the hospital to see a doctor, because the drugstore can buy the drugs you need. Patients who come to the hospital to see a doctor must think that they cannot solve the problem. Therefore, when we visit a doctor, we just have to tell him/her about our symptoms and the diagnosis should be made by him/her. Moreover, many diseases have similar clinical symptoms and require the examination of medical instruments and the doctor’s professional judgment to make them. Therefore, patients should not rush to diagnose themselves first when seeking medical treatment. 2) Do not prescribe drugs for yourself based on the “experience” of others. Many patients have a strange mentality and often ask during the consultation process: I heard people in rural areas say how to treat this disease, doctor, why don’t you treat it this way? Or ask: I heard others say what this disease is, how to treat it, etc. When the doctor asks who said the treatment for this disease, the answer is often: my neighbor, the old lady selling vegetables, or the old man in the old countryside. In fact, when doctors explain this problem to patients, patients themselves sometimes find it funny, if these people’s words are credible, then what do we need doctors for? Of course, I don’t except that there may be some folk remedies in the middle that can work. 3) Do not change the dosage of drugs prescribed by the doctor at will. Some patients in the process of medical treatment, with their own experience to reduce or increase the dosage of drugs at will, which is a dangerous thing, because the dosage of drugs and the use of time for the treatment of diseases is very important, and to avoid the side effects of drugs, some patients think they are “good health”, they arbitrarily increase the dosage of drugs, in order to seek as soon as possible The result may be counterproductive.
