Hysterectomy may affect a woman’s sexual function.
Many women undergo hysterectomy for conditions such as fibroids, adenomyosis and tumours and experience reduced sexual function or even sexual dysfunction after surgery, including lack of sexual desire, vaginal dryness and reduced sexual sensation. The occurrence of these problems may be related to the fact that hysterectomy affects the patient psychologically even more than physically. For example, hysterectomized people may experience psychological changes such as believing that they are no longer a woman and not a complete woman.
