Will a high percentage of deformed sperm give birth to a deformed child?

In the clinic, we often encounter a situation where an infertile couple comes for a checkup and the male partner’s semen routine test reveals that the percentage of deformed sperm is about 70%, immediately thinking that the cause of infertility has been found: it is due to the high percentage of deformed sperm! And some doctors will also explain to them that such a high percentage of deformed sperm will miscarry if they get pregnant, or they will give birth to a deformed baby! So can deformed sperm really have such serious consequences? We know that each time an egg and sperm combine, the egg selects a sperm from hundreds of millions of sperm, just like a large scale “talent contest”, so how is this “super sperm” selected? First of all, there is a “sea selection”, each ejaculation has about 40 million sperm, according to the ratio of half of the active sperm, there are 20 million sperm eliminated! The remaining 20 million sperm are eligible to march to the uterus and begin the “long march”. After the “long journey” to the uterus and the fallopian tubes, some sperm with poor motility, missing arms and legs, old and sick sperm, especially those with deformed tails, are left on the road forever, while the rest of the sperm with good motility, healthy and normal shape are eliminated. The rest of the motile, healthy and normally shaped sperm are not eliminated and arrive at their destination – around the egg. The final “final” begins, and the best finalists begin their final attack on the egg, ramming into it, releasing an enzyme from their head that dissolves the outermost protective layer of the egg, the zona pellucida, opening a small hole that will automatically harden as soon as one sperm passes through the zona pellucida, and the rest of the sperm can no longer enter. The rest of the sperm can no longer enter. As you can imagine, the sperm that went in, such as the head deformity of the sperm is difficult to pass through the zona pellucida, so the last first place became the real “super man”! After watching this “super sperm” competition, we must understand how unlikely it is for a deformed sperm to become a “super man”! So, the World Health Organization has set the percentage of normal sperm at more than 30%, at this point, when you get a report card with 70% abnormal sperm, you will not be too nervous!
