What to do if you are pregnant with an ovarian tumor

Ovarian tumors in pregnancy should be decided according to the size of the ovarian tumor, the benign or malignant nature of the ovary, and the clinical manifestations of the next diagnostic and therapeutic measures. If the diameter of ovarian tumor is 5cm, most of them are benign or physiological, and generally do not need treatment if they are asymptomatic; if the diameter is between 5 and 10cm, and the evaluation is benign and there is no clinical manifestation of acute abdomen, it is recommended to perform ultrasound or magnetic resonance evaluation again at 14-16 weeks of pregnancy, and if surgery is not needed, it should be evaluated again at 6 weeks of postnatal period or be surgically treated when performing cesarean delivery. If malignancy is suspected, surgical termination of pregnancy as well as staged surgical treatment of ovarian tumors are recommended after positive diagnosis. Ovarian tumors in pregnancy are common in obstetrics, and once detected, they should be consulted with an obstetrician/gynecologist, who will evaluate the case and decide on the next step in the treatment.
