Talking about megalodontia

Macrodystrophy is a congenital malformation characterized by increased finger or toe size due to abnormal nerve growth and has a low incidence of about 0.9% among congenital malformations of the extremities. Macrodactyly is one of the least common upper limb deformities and is due to hyperdevelopment of the fingers, palms or limbs. Acromegaly not only affects the function of the limb but also seriously affects the aesthetics and brings psychological barriers to the patient, which can easily lead to a withdrawn personality. One type is the static type, which means that it is larger at birth but does not develop further. This type is better and has better treatment results; the other type is the dynamic type, which keeps growing and affects the nearby fingers. This condition is more common. Most of the static type of megaloplasia does not require treatment, and treatment needs to be determined by the condition of their megaloplasia. If the hypertrophy of the skin and subcutaneous fat can be partially removed; the growth of the giant finger can be stopped by removing the thick nerve in the giant finger; if the giant finger grows fast on one side and causes the finger to be skewed, finger shortening or osteotomy can be done; if the giant finger is non-functional, finger amputation can be done if necessary. Treatment Congenital acromegaly is best treated according to the size of the size of the fracture, with soft tissue surgery for light cases, bone surgery for medium cases, and amputation for heavy cases.
