Mild myocardial ischemia mostly manifests as chest tightness and chest pain, and the cause is mostly caused by coronary artery stenosis. The symptoms of chest tightness and chest pain can be relieved by timely treatment, but coronary artery stenosis cannot be cured at present. The mechanism of myocardial ischemia is due to the contradiction between coronary blood supply and myocardial blood demand caused by various reasons, so that the coronary blood flow cannot meet the needs of myocardial metabolism. Causes of decreased myocardial blood supply and oxygen supply or increased myocardial oxygen demand may lead to the occurrence of myocardial ischemia. From this perspective, methods that increase myocardial blood and oxygen supply and decrease myocardial oxygen consumption can make myocardial ischemia better, such as myocardial ischemia induced by exercise, emotional excitement, and cold, etc. Myocardial ischemia will get better after the trigger is contacted. On the other hand, myocardial ischemia is often present with severe stenosis of the coronary arteries of the heart, as mild stenosis does not usually cause symptoms. Even mild myocardial ischemia, which generally manifests as chest tightness and chest pain, is a sign of an angina attack. Symptoms of angina can be relieved by rest or by taking medications. Currently, the commonly used drugs for symptom relief include mainly beta-blockers, nitrate drugs and calcium channel blockers. When rest or medication is taken, the coronary arteries dilate, perfusion is restored, and the patient’s myocardial cells reversibly recover from ischemia and hypoxia. The symptoms of angina can be relieved. Therefore, from the perspective of symptom relief, the symptoms of mild myocardial ischemia can be relieved. However, from the perspective of etiology, the direct causes of myocardial ischemia, such as coronary atherosclerosis and stenosis, are not relieved, so only symptoms can be relieved but not cured. Severe stenosis of coronary arteries needs to be treated by stenting or even bypass grafting on the basis of drug therapy. Mild myocardial ischemia cannot be cured by the root cause. Patients with coronary artery disease can control the symptoms of myocardial ischemia for a long time as long as they pay attention to adhere to regular oral medication and avoid triggers.
