How to treat otitis media caused by cold

Colds cause otitis media, mostly secretory otitis media, common treatment methods such as anti-infection, nasal irrigation and other conservative methods, if the patient’s condition is more serious, it is necessary to carry out surgical treatment such as tympanocentesis or tympanotomy.
1. Anti-infection: It is recommended that patients use antibiotics such as amoxicillin or cephalosporin, which can effectively improve mucosal edema, so that the mouth of the Eustachian tube can be opened normally, and the secretions in the middle ear can be discharged to the nasopharynx. Mucus promoters such as Ambroxol Hydrochloride can also be used to promote cilia movement in the middle ear and Eustachian tube, which in turn will help discharge secretions.
2. Promote nasal and Eustachian tube patency: If the patient has a lot of nasal discharge, saline can be used to rinse the nasal cavity, thereby reducing the inflammation of the nasopharyngeal Eustachian tube and relieving the discomfort of the nose.
3. Tympanocentesis: If the patient has poor drainage of secretions from the middle ear, it is recommended that the patient try tympanocentesis to extract the fluid and relieve discomfort.
4. Tympanotomy: If the secretion in the ear of a patient with otitis media is sticky and not easy to discharge, or if a large amount of fluid appears after a short period of time after a tympanocentesis, a tympanotomy may be recommended.
For otitis media caused by cold, it is recommended that the patient should go to the hospital in time and under the guidance of the doctor to carry out the above treatment.
The patient should also have enough rest, eat more food rich in vitamins and dietary fiber, do not eat spicy and stimulating food, which will help the patient’s recovery.
