Does high blood pressure affect platelets?

High blood pressure does not directly affect platelets, but poorly controlled high blood pressure is a high risk factor for blood clots, and platelet aggregation is involved in the formation of blood clots. If the blood pressure is too high, it will damage the blood vessel wall, and if the blood vessel wall is damaged or the blood lipid is too high, the lipid will enter the endothelium along the damaged blood vessel wall and form atheromatous plaque. Hypertensive patients cause damage to the endothelium of blood vessels and then form blood clots, and platelets have a role in this process.
