The healing time for tibial plateau fractures is usually three months. For tibial plateau fractures that can be treated non-operatively, the fracture is initially braked with a cast for about six weeks. It is important to elevate the lower extremity during this six-week period to help the swelling of the knee joint to subside. At the end of the six-week period, X-rays can be taken, and if it is clear that there is a continuous bone scab passing through the fracture, the cast can be removed and functional training of the knee joint can be started. If the fracture line is blurred or disappears, the fracture has reached clinical healing.
