Detailed explanation of breast augmentation surgery procedure

The procedure of breast augmentation surgery is as follows.
  1.Before surgery
In addition to discussing the shape and size of your breasts, your surgeon will first confirm that you are healthy before surgery. Although breast augmentation surgery usually seems safe and reliable, there are risks associated with any surgery performed under anesthesia. Infection, poor wound healing, certain medications and even smoking can all be reasons for the surgeon to decide not to perform the surgery on you and to reach a consensus on the type of implant to choose. You need to avoid your menstrual period and abstain from food and water for 4-6 hours prior to surgery. It is best to wear a cardigan suit (easy to put on and take off after surgery).
  2.Anesthesia for breast augmentation
Depending on the operation method, local anesthesia, epidural anesthesia and general anesthesia can be used. Local anesthesia can be chosen for small trauma such as breast augmentation with submammary implants; epidural anesthesia is more suitable for breast augmentation with submammary implants; and general anesthesia can be used for people who are afraid of surgery and sensitive to pain.
  3.Cutting
During the surgery, an incision is made in the armpit, around the areola, or in the lower fold of the breast, and the length of the incision is usually about 3~4cm. If the incision is made in the armpit, an endoscope is usually used to widen the surgical field. An endoscope is sometimes used for incisions in the inframammary fold. The surgeon strips a secure cavity in the posterior space of the patient’s breast, where the implant will be placed. The post-operative incision scar is usually not visible and is currently the primary choice for incision.
  4.Separation
Special stainless steel instruments are used to slowly separate the two muscles that were previously stuck together to make room for the placement of the implant by probing in through the incision.
  5.Placement
The sterilized prosthesis is slowly inserted through the incision by pinching it with two fingers, taking care to adjust the shape with the fingers when inserting it. Through the incision, the surgeon net decomposes a cavity to place the implant, which will be placed in one of the following two areas.
  (1) directly under the breast tissue, in which case the implant is placed on top of the pectoralis major muscle
Advantages: The pectoralis muscle does not rub against the implant, thus maintaining the original shape of the breast implant more moderately.
Disadvantage: Although less common with newer implants, there is still a risk of visible, tight scar tissue around the implant (called “periosteal contracture”). If your existing breast tissue is thin, it is possible that the implant may be palpable on the surface.
  (2) Placement under the pectoralis major muscle
Advantages: There is less risk of periosteal contracture with this method.
Disadvantages: You will need a longer recovery period and you will have difficulty raising your hands until the wound is fully healed. Your surgeon will advise you to limit your arm movements as much as possible in the early stages, otherwise it will cause displacement of the implant or deformity will occur more quickly.
  6.Suture
I believe the above breast augmentation procedure can give you some help. Medical plastic surgery experts remind that the surgery must be performed in a regular medical beauty institution to ensure the safety and hygiene of the surgery.
The surgery usually takes 1-2 hours and the recovery time is usually short. No need to be hospitalized after surgery, you can go home.
  7.After surgery
After surgery you may feel a little fatigue, some swelling and tenderness in your breasts, which will last for up to one month. You may also experience tightness in your breasts because your skin must adjust to the new breast size. The results of breast augmentation will not show up immediately and will only show up after the breast tissue and the pectoral muscle (if the plant is placed under the pectoral muscle) have adapted to the new breast shape.
  8.Breast augmentation postoperative care
The care of your breasts during the first few days after surgery is simple, do not take a shower during this time, you will need a support bandage, this bandage can be replaced by a support bra after a few days. It is very important to follow carefully the special instructions of your surgeon as individual differences and reactions vary. The stitches are removed 7 to 10 days after surgery, while the swelling of the breast lasts for about 3 weeks. After the removal of the stitches, in order to prevent the twinning of the envelope, you need to massage the breasts yourself and insist on massage for more than 3~6 months.
