Desensitization and Rehabilitation of Nerve Injuries

Skin sensory sensitization is a common phenomenon of nerve regeneration. It may be due to increased sensitivity of immature nerve endings and the susceptibility of the sensory apparatus to stimulation. Patients are often confused by skin sensitization, are reluctant to move around, and find it difficult to accept treatment to overcome nerve sensitization. Repeated stimulation of this sensitive area has been shown to subdue the sensitization. If this phenomenon is not overcome, it is difficult to make further treatments such as sensory re-education, muscle strengthening, and functional hand dexterity activities. Desensitization consists of two educational measures: 1. Educate the patient to use the sensitive area. If this sensitive area is not used, other functional exercises cannot be performed. This sensitization is an inevitable phenomenon and process of the nerve regeneration process. After the nerve end is repaired, the sensitive area will be naturally alleviated, reducing the patient’s fear. 2. Gradually increase the stimulation in the sensitive area. Can first use non-stimulating substances, such as certain plants (soybean, sesame, broad beans, adzuki beans) to be desensitized, available different contact measures to stimulate. Sensory hypersensitivity often occurs after nerve injury, and desensitization therapy can be used. The affected hand is placed in fine gauze grains, repeatedly withdrawn, inserted, and rubbed, until the skin is numb and senseless. After adapting to the above stimulation, increase the intensity of the stimulation, for example, put the hand into the coarse grains of sand rubbing, and then into the sesame rice – green (red) beans – soybeans – peanut rice (fava beans) small weak to large strong order, desensitization therapy, you can achieve relatively good results.
