Plateau redness and frostbite are not exactly the same.
Plateau redness is caused by a combination of cold and strong ultraviolet rays and tends to be symmetrical on the face, whereas frostbite is mainly caused by cold and tends to occur on the ends of the limbs such as the fingers and toes.
