Is Plateau Redness Plateau Erythropoietic Disorder?

Not so. Plateau redness is a facial erythema that manifests itself due to cold temperatures and long-term damage from UV rays, resulting in thinning of the skin’s stratum corneum, dilated capillaries and blood stasis. Plateau erythrocytosis, on the other hand, is a compensatory increase in red blood cells to compensate for the hypoxic conditions of the plateau environment, mainly manifested as cyanosis of the skin and mucous membranes (especially the lips). The two can co-exist, but are not the same pathological process.
