The prevalence of blood pressure is increasing every year and has become a major “killer” threat to health.
A study published in The Lancet in 2021 showed that more than 1 billion adults worldwide had high blood pressure in 2019, twice the number estimated in 1990. What’s more, more than half of these cases go untreated, and few are well managed.
Researchers estimate that 1.27 billion people between the ages of 30 and 79 met the criteria for hypertension in 2019, up from 650 million in 1990.
Of such a large number of people with hypertension, some have stable control of their blood pressure, but others experience cardiovascular events from time to time, and in severe cases, even sudden death!
The same hypertension, why are the results different?
In fact, different degrees, symptoms and conditions of hypertension problems, the way and degree of harm to the body form different, so the control and treatment effect is also very different.
Among them, there are several special types of hypertension, if not controlled, the risk is “better” than ordinary hypertension.
Dangerous type one: hypertension with high pulse pressure difference
The pulse pressure difference is the difference between systolic (high pressure) and diastolic (low pressure) pressure. In general, the normal person’s pulse pressure difference between 20 and 60 mmHg, if greater than 60 mmHg, it is called excessive pulse pressure difference, mainly manifested as: high pressure high, low pressure low.
There are two main reasons for the formation of a large pulse pressure difference. One is caused by atherosclerosis, and the other is caused by diseases such as aortic valve insufficiency, hypertensive heart disease, hyperthyroidism and severe anemia.
Several clinical studies have shown that the greater the difference in pulse pressure, the greater the risk of cardiovascular disease arising, increasing the risk of cerebral and cardiac infarction!
In general, patients with large pulse pressure have a much higher risk of cardiovascular disease and death compared to patients with small pulse pressure.
Risk type two: H-type hypertension
Type H hypertension refers to hypertension “with elevated homocysteine levels”. In China, three out of four patients with essential hypertension have type H hypertension.
Compared to the general adult population, the risk of stroke is 12 times higher in patients with type H hypertension! Even when compared to other patients with normal hypertension who do not have elevated homocysteine levels, they are considerably more likely to have a stroke.
Therefore, H-type hypertension is also “known” as the most stroke prone hypertension, and is the “king” of the hypertension family.
Risk type 3: Early morning hypertension
Our body is influenced by the biological clock, blood pressure is changing 24 hours a day, even in healthy people, blood pressure will also have a clear circadian rhythm.
Blood pressure has different characteristics of change at each time of day. In the early morning, during the process of switching from sleep to wakefulness, the vagus nerve and sympathetic nerve of the body start to “shift”, the heart beats faster, the contraction is enhanced, and the blood pressure will tend to rise significantly.
If the rise in blood pressure is too large, it is an abnormal pathological state, which can be harmful to the human body, and this abnormal condition is medically known as early morning hypertension.
Early morning hypertension is like an “active volcano” hidden in the body of hypertensive patients, and is an important risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events.
For most hypertensive patients, once this “active volcano” erupts, the incidence of stroke will be 3-4 times higher than at other times of the day. According to epidemiological surveys, about 40% of myocardial infarctions and 29% of sudden cardiac deaths occur in the early morning hours.
Risk type 4: Asymptomatic hypertension
Many people with high blood pressure will have symptoms, but there are some people who do not feel it, and these people are instead the most dangerous.
If you can feel your blood pressure getting high and uncomfortable, your body is protecting itself.
If you don’t feel it, you are likely to let high blood pressure damage your organs. The reason why hypertension is an “invisible killer” is that serious conditions can occur without you knowing it.
Danger type 5: Occult hypertension
Some people with hypertension have normal blood pressure when measured in the hospital, but only discover hypertension when measured at home or during ambulatory blood pressure testing.
The prevalence of masked hypertension in the population ranges from 7.6% to 23.0%, and increases significantly with age. It is a prevalent state of hypertension.
Patients with masked hypertension have a higher cardiovascular risk compared to patients with white coat hypertension (high blood pressure measured in the hospital and normal blood pressure measured at home) and normal blood pressure.
The first step in the treatment of hypertension should be lifestyle modification.
No matter what type of hypertension you are, a healthy diet, regular rest, reasonable exercise, quit smoking and alcohol, and a happy mood …… these good habits are your “universal prescription”.
1, suffering from hypertension drink water to remember the “five one”
Patients with high blood pressure should pay attention to replenish enough water to dilute the blood and reduce the risk of thrombosis.
For people with high blood pressure, the morning is a dangerous time period.
Every morning when you wake up, you should drink 1 cup of warm water on an empty stomach.
Drink 1 glass of water in the morning after returning home from a morning workout to replace the water lost during exercise.
In the afternoon, drink an appropriate amount of water for every hour over
1 glass of water before and after bathing.
Drink a little water before going to bed to help remove toxins from the body.
But drink water is not the more the better, drink 1500 to 2000 ml of water a day is appropriate.
2, hypertensive patients should eat less sweets
The elderly with high blood pressure, sugar intake too much increase cardiovascular risk. It is recommended that the daily intake of sugar for the elderly is best controlled at 20-30 grams.
For example, the sugar content of two or three sweet cookies can easily exceed 20 grams, and the sugar content of a 500 ml bottle of sweetened beverage is generally 40-50 grams.
Soy milk powder, black sesame powder, etc. are sweeter foods, but also to eat less.
3, do not do these three things after exercise
Proper exercise is good for the body, but hypertensive patients do not do these three things after exercise.
Gulp cold water
It will make the throat, esophagus, stomach and other organs in the cold sharp contraction, the lighter cause stomach cramps, stomach cramps, the heavier can cause syncope. The correct way is to rest a little after exercise and then drink warm water, once should not be too much.
Sit or lie down after exercise
After the end of the exercise stop not to move, will lead to a reduction in the amount of cardiac blood return, cardiac blood volume decreased, resulting in temporary cerebral ischemia. At this time should do some finishing activities to improve blood circulation, eliminate fatigue and improve the effect of exercise.
Head below the waist
When the head is lower than the waist, the blood will flow into the brain in large quantities, and the cerebral vascular pressure will suddenly increase, which can cause the rupture of the hardened and fragile small blood vessels and cause cerebral hemorrhage.
4, suffering from hypertension after cooling down to protect the three parts
When the weather is cold, hypertensive patients especially need to protect three parts, head and neck, waist and abdomen and the soles of the feet, to help stabilize blood pressure.
Keep the head and neck warm
The head and neck is the first gate to be guarded by hypertensive patients, who can usually wear a scarf and hat for protection when they go out.
Apply heat to the abdomen and waist
Do hot compresses on the abdomen every day and use a warm water bag for 10-15 minutes at night to help warm up the kidney yang and cultivate positive energy.
Vinegar soak the soles of the feet
Every night, you can pour about 100 grams of vinegar in half a basin of hot water to soak your feet to relieve fatigue, regulate sleep and strengthen your body.
